OK in my loft I have a Cradlepoint MBR1200 with external antennas, this is where my internet comes in at via a Verizon Usb 760 mobile broadband air card with external antenna. MBR connects to two desktops and then a Zyxel WAP3205 in client mode getting internet from the Cradlepoint that will connect to a D-Link DI-524 Wireless G router which will connect my Xbox and sync my Zune with my laptop and an Ethernet cable will run out of the D-Link into a Netgear XE102G Power-line Network Kit which connects my brothers Xbox downstairs. Now the question is will the two Xbox's be able to system link and be able to connect to live. PS the Zyxel works now but I don't have the D-Link yet.

moreOpen Question: What is wrong with my AT&T wireless connection?
I just got AT&T wireless broadband modem (lightning), with the 2 yr contract and all that. Yesterday. And now I'm having serious problems, and no phone tech support on a long weekend (yay yahoo!answers!)
It connects fine, 3-4 bars typically and runs great for a bit. But thats the catch: only for a few seconds. My connection will inevitably lock up after roughly 450-1024k of "data usage". I'll be lucky to get this question off before I lose my connection in fact. [it in fact took me 4 reconnects to get through all the question pages to Submit]
The orange light on the modem starts to flash, followed by the blue button- still shows connected- and upon disconnect/unplug usb the communication manager will show "no mobile device detected"
This has happened consistently 20 times now, to my great aggravation. What will allow me to reconnect is closing the communication manager (which sometimes "fails to respond" and has to be taskmanager-closed), and relaunching it.. but then again- only got .5-1 M of data or so.
I previously had Sprint mobile broadband, and it worked for 2 years.. granted with lousy bandwidth in my area (.16-.24 mbps typically), and I switched to AT&T to see if they had a better connection. apparently NOT.. as at least with Sprint I could check my email/smoothly watch youtube videos at 360p quality.
Now with AT&T- I can see only my first email, and the firt 2 seconds of youtube videos. OK this is turning into a rant, so, an ideas why this is happening/whats going on? Because I wont be able to call tech support until TUESDAY, apparently.
moreOpen Question: What should I look for in a laptop?
I currently own a 2 year old Toshiba Satellite. And in all honesty...it's a bit on the s*** side.
About 9 months after I bought the laptop, the webcam stopped functioning unless the laptop was closed at a 15 degree angle. The webcam finally gave up after another few months.
At about a year and a half, the CD Drive stopped functioning, and two cracks appeared on either side of the keyboard. Parts of the plastic broke off at the fan. More plastic broke off at the USB ports and CD drive.
Recently, nearly every program on my laptop has crashed when I go to use it. Usually these are Firefox, Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Word, and Skype. The taskbar also freezes.
I only use my laptop for basic student needs. I take ICT classes in college, so I bring my classwork home a lot to work on. Coursework is done on my laptop, also. The only other uses are for the wireless, MSN, Skype and iTunes.
I don't use my laptop for photoshopping or any other editing software. I only use it for the basics, but it appears to have given up. I also use my laptop to store photos. I'm looking for a laptop that can meet these needs, AND needs for going into University in a year. Since I'm a student, I also need a laptop for a good price and be able to carry it around without an extra haulage.
What should I look for in my laptop, since I can't walk up to one in a shop and see if it's any good compared to my current one?
Jimbo xxI also meant to mention, the laptop only charges when in a certain position, and is extremely slow when not connected to the power source. When it is turned on, it takes a long time to load too (about 10 minutes).
There is also something stuck inside the laptop, that sounds like it rolls about when the laptop moves. I have no idea what this could be, or where.
moreOpen Question: Do you need the Logitech Unifying USB Receiver (or similar) to use a Logitech wireless keyboard or mouse?
I have a new computer (I don't know if it has bluetooth or not) and I'm interested in buying a Logitech MX 1100 (mouse only, no receiver) so I'm wondering if I absolutely need the Logitech receiver that came with it to use it.
I'm thinking that if my computer does have bluetooth in it then it wouldn't need a USB receiver or something similar to use it or that if my computer doesn't have bluetooth in it I could just buy a cheap bluetooth dongle for it to work. Would that be possible?
moreOpen Question: My dongle is to long. Is there a way to shorten it?
No, dongle isn't slang for penis. The USB dongle that came with my wireless gamepad is too long, and it's hard to keep track of. It often gets stuck on things and pulls itself out of the USB port. Is there a way to take the insides of the big dongle and pack it into something smaller? I'm willing to try something that requires some hard-modding skill; just tell me what I need, what to do, and where to get the parts.
(I tried tying up the cord. It didn't help much.)

I would like to connect a device wirelessly to a computer, USB to USB. Unfortunately all the options I could find were either slow or expensive.
Can somebody direct me to a place where I can find a simple setup, with one end with plug ins (or a single plug in) for a USB cable, and the other with a USB cable to plug into a computer?
The faster the better, but I wouldn't like to break the bank on this one.
Thanks!I am trying to connect two devices via a wireless USB cable, such as might be found here: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=wireless+usb+cable&wrapid=tlif12836560946922&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6649331881417880937&ei=rAmDTObbFcqAnwf45qzxDg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=image&resnum=5&ved=0CEUQ8gIwBA#.
However I am looking for a less expensive option, perhaps with less USB ports.

moreOpen Question: how to stay connected on wireless?
Hi, ok so I have a PC and also use Sky Broadband. For my internet I use a TP-Link Wireless Lite-N USB Adapter. I can connect to my internet just fine but the problem is that every time I turn my computer on I have to go through all this fuss of selecting the network and connecting by entering the password (Or Key) that sky assigned to me. I want to just be able to turn on my PC and be connected so that I can just go straight onto the web and not have to do any of this messing about. The biggest problem with it is that my PC is a shared PC and not all of the users are particularly computer savvy so they keep forgetting to to connect which leaves me explaining the process (Again) over the phone whilst I'm out walking my dogs or whatever.
If anyone can help me solve this it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I just bought a wireless Epson printer, and the sales representative asked me if I wanted to buy a USB cable (not included in the box) "in case the wireless connection didnt work". Now, since I figured I would bring the printer back if the wireless didn't work, I didn't get the cable. But now I see the installation instructions say that it's "recommended you temporarily use a cable to install the printer, and then remove the cable for wrieless use". Why is that? Will the set up be messed up if I don't use a cable?
The only thing I could think of was that the wireless set up might be more difficult.. but if it works, why buy a cable?! Thanks for the info!but my printer box didn't contain any cables beside the power cable...

Is this a relatively fast laptop and Is this worth the money or should I buy a new laptop instead? Thanks in advance!
moreResolved Question: Netbooks, are they worth the hype and Money or should I fix up my old Compaq Laptop?
Bought my Presario Laptop 7 years ago, and the thing has never died. The battery has not worked in years and the computer is basically only a backup for when my main computer goes down and I need to get something off the internet to fix it.
It has 1.7ghz processor, less then 1 gig of RAM, and a 30GB hard drive which has about 10Gigs left in it. The battery when new ran for about 2 to 3 hours. I can erase all the data files on it and free up probably another 8 to 10 gigs, as all the files are ancient repeats of stuff on my main computer.
Gonna start needing a computer to take along with me for text files and wireless internet access. So is it worth the $$$$$ To get a small netbook with basically the same amount of hard drive storage due to a flash drive, and do they really get nearly 8 hours per charge like the manufactures say they do? I don't need a CD/DVD drive, the USB Flash drive would be fine.
ThanksI've seen my old Presario 2100 on E.Bay, and for the price their asking it's not worth me selling. If anything I always have a DVD player when I go on vacation, something a Netbook can't do.
moreOpen Question: Can I power a battery operated device with USB?
Hello! Yesterday I purchased a cheap wireless FM Transmitter for about $10. It can transmit up to 30 feet. It is powered by 2 AAA battery's. I was just wondering if I can somehow solder a USB cable onto the battery contacts on the transmitter to power it without using battery's. I have done it before with a set of battery operated Christmas lights, but I am not sure if it's the same thing. Thanks for the help.

moreOpen Question: What am I doing wrong, Laptop Card finds network but USB doesn't on main computer?
Hi,
I just moved into college, and my laptop connects to the internet perfectly fine with no problems, but my actual computer doesn't.
Both units are Windows XP and both has Belkin adapters.
Both wireless. I just bought the USB for the main computer, i installed off cd, said to put the adaptor on, I put it on, and then I restart, and it never works. It doesn't pick up the internet, meanwhile I have a laptop not even a foot away that finds the network.
I am only getting one network, and it is the printer network, and says that it is On Demand (Which I do get what that means), so why is this happening? Any help?
Thanks,
JustinMain and actual are refering to the computer I need connected but wont... Thought that was kind of obvious...
